Chat/Discussion Kind of like a VW club online - you can sit in our virtual pub and talk about whatever you want to. All opinions are valid, but please no insulting (other than to our intelligence,) abusive or libellous posts. Please feel free to post your opinion on any given subject, but also be aware that others have the equal right to disagree with you - and some will certainly tell you so. No 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your business, links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (please use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled "What's my car worth?" threads too (please use the 'Dude! What's My Car Worth?' forum) - and please don't use just to post links to other VW forums or websites - we are aware that other sites exist (obviously), but blatant 'plugs' (poaching) will simply be deleted.

Default Temporary windscreen

Hi everyone, I haven't been on here for quite a while as we had to sell our camper a few years ago.

I was going through some parts we have left and came across this temporary windscreen that was in the camper when we bought it.

Just wondered if anyone had seen one before or is it likely to be a home made thing?

Thanks

Hiya

I’ve definitely seen one of those before - in an autojumble - so I’m fairly certain it’s not ‘home made’. No idea as to a value/worth though, sorry.

Yep, you used to be able to by them. Just like those ‘temporary’, ‘get you home’ fan belts of old.

Hiya, thanks for that. I wasn't sure as I have never seen another one like it. Not sure what to do with it though, it could end up sitting in the loft for for another 20 years lol

Ah I see, I don't think I would fancy using it, but maybe better than nothing

There’s a couple on ebay. One made by Bell and another by Humphrey Thompson.

Yeah, in 30 odd years I’ve only had one toughened screen go on me. Had to drive home at dusk with sunglasses and gloves on to prevent cuts and from glass bits going in my eyes. Most screens are laminate these days.

Oh dear, not ideal lol. Yes when they went they went everywhere. I think we have a couple of T2 ones in the loft and some Beetle glass but I can't see anyone wanting to replace with an old type when you can have a laminated one.

Ah I see, wonder if they were a requirement for Europe? I can't say I have seen one before this one but as type3 says there are some on eBay.
