Readers Rides Post pics, specs and build-up stories of your vehicles - or even your garages here. Also interesting stuff about your 'daily drivers' etc. or interesting cars you have seen on your travels, even motors-based TV shows you can recommend. Default 78 Panel Van Project

Hi all well we've only gone and bought a bay to go with our beetle, here it is our new panel project.....

...at the services on the 5 hour trip back home, ran like a dream!)

...back at its new home safe and sound

...not seen a wheel cover like this before

...hmmm don't fancy kipping in there just yet

...blue is the future! voodoo boy is to protect the bay against accidents and to remind us the panel project was born out of our T4 crash!

...and so it begins.....

Got a couple of coats of KBS Rustseal done on the decks, for reference I used most of a quart can (968ml) to do two coats in both the back and cab....

Thinking I'll probably do the sides too...?

That's really nice. I've got my eye on one at the moment, prefering panels to the campers

Good luck

Thanks!

We prefer the cleaner look of the panel too plus the bonus of added security

Happy hunting hope to see what you get in readers rides soon!

Cool! We're thinking of the Rustoleum route for the exterior of ours...

dunno what im going for on mine yet, was half thinking i like the shade of grey primer, so may just primer and clear coat, although i'd imagine that would be frowned upon, but so long as its watertight and the coulour i want i dont give a shit!

Panels are great for stealth camping too, i lived out of mine in north devon for 6 months and no one was any the wiser!

I agree, you've gotta do what you want, there'll always be someone who doesn't like it or disagrees with it whatever you do We want to do our van in Dove Blue even though its wrong for the year and we're planning on going for the satin finish Rustoleum which I'm sure the haters will sniff at, that's even if they agree with rollering in the first place!

"Stealth camping" I like it! So are you in Devon too?
