This is the post oval cone top Knecht (sometimes referred to as a witches hat) air filter.
Fitted to Volkswagen Beetles with 30hp engines from 1958 - 1961.

I have a fully functional filter which includes the temp regulator (two little tubes, not known if working, seems to be) on the top, the carb tube and the bulbous vacuum flap under the 'snout' and one which doesn't have the bulbous 'snout' bit or tube..pics on request

Sorry I can't get a better picture (I'm at uni at the moment), I know the carb is a weber IDF but that's about as far as my knowledge goes and I can't get home to find out so wondering if anyone can tell from a glance?
