I'm having trouble working out a good way of checking this. Anything decent suggests the use of a specially designed lever bar, but these don't seem to be available anywhere and look like a pain to make up. Everything else just seems to be based on the 'move the wheel up and down' philosophy...

it's an 85 mexibug I need to change the ball joint boots on both the torsion arms and the tie rod ends, in my manual (haynes ) says I need to remove the brakes etc form the spindles to split the ball joint is this correct also is it worth paint drums, backing plates or will flake off thanks...

Hi all, Finally doing some work on my 1500 '70 Beetle. Got the front discs off and they need replacing, only 8mm and squeaking! Also noticed the upper o/s ball joint is split and leaking grease. How easy it is to replace just the rubber cover, as i hear its a nightmare replacing all the ball...

Probably a long shot but I have some brand new still-in-box ball joint disc dropped spindles, the thing is, I need ball joint drum brake ones... Any chance someone wants to swap?? Or will sell for £160 Jase.
