I recently found out during an engine rebuild that my connecting rods had knackered the block, so instead of rebuilding the engine, I now need either a replacement to rebuild or just a block itself.
It's a type 4 engine to go in my '79 Bay window with a CJ engine code
Any help would...
Hi, I've bought myself a T25 with a dead engine. It's a 2.0l Aircooled CU unit with Hydraulic followers and a single Weber with electric fuel pump. I have stripped the engine and split the case and found the cam is pretty well worn as shown below! The cam bearings were also cream crackered...
I'm restoring my beetle and a bit of money has come my way and would like to convert my 1300 beetle engine to a 1641! has anyone on here had one built for them by a good reliable engine builder not someone like "Iandubber500" as if i have a problem or a question as i don't know a lot so would...
I am currently running a 1300 sp (af code) engine in my 69 beetle that puts out about 40 bhp.
I am thinking of an engine upgrade and was wondering if I could use this engine as a base?
Is it possible to upgrade it to say a 1664 and fitting ported heads, ratio rockers, balanced crank and...
I've searched and found a couple of threads that say where to remove material from but..... I've got 10grams between lightest and heaviest.
Is there any point in me trying to get these matched as others are talking about 3g being a lot of difference!
Measured the CC of my heads and they came out at 50cc, but should I measure with the disc inside the step in the head or on top of it? I made my own disc so made it to be a tight fit inside the head.
I'm thinking maybe I should measure not including the step and then add the step onto my deck...
At the end of the summer I'm planning on rebuilding my engine and making a 'proper' job of it this time.
I'm basically going to pull it apart, get the bottom end balanced, put it back together and set the CR.
I noticed the other day that I've got a bit of endfloat. Obviously running around...
I've stripped the heads off my engine and there was a bit of oil sitting in the bottom of the barrels, not loads, but some. Is this a bad thing, do I need new piston rings and or a new oil ring on the pistons?
The rings look fine and are not broken or look damaged.
Just a quick question really, how do you match the Dizzy drive up with the crank. Needed to take it out as ive fitted a cam.
Im guessing theres a way of doing it so the dizzy matches the spark pattern or do i just slide it in.
Thinking about building a stroked 1300, so 77(bore) x 76(stroke), this would give 1416 CC's.
Or would I be better off stroking a 1600, so 85.5(bore) x 76(stroke)?
Everything I have been told is that a 'Square' engine has very nice characteristics for daily driving, lots of torque and a very...
An American company has managed to acquire a large quantity of genuine VW Type 1 crankcases. The problem is that these cases are specifically for the local Brazil Type 2 model, are single relief, have very small oil galleries and a tiny oil pick-up tube. They are being passed off as late style...
