hi all, i have a 71 bay which i'm having trouble getting 1'st & 2'nd gears. After reading some post's on here i believe the problem could be the selector plate but if it's wise to replace any other part at the same time then i will do so. Any advise welcome!!

Does anyone know how to align gears on a '69 Beetle. Currently I don't have to push the gear stick down to get reverse, so it's really hard to get into second without grinding the gears on reverse by accident. Thanks!
