ive seen a number of vw with american style number plates on they have their UK reg number but on a us style plate are these legal? i would really like to get some for my bay when i get her registered but dont wanna be pulled over every 5 mins matt

this type where can i get those? i've found chestnuts, but they're over £50 a pair, which is a bit more than i wanted to pay... (that's 10% of the vehicle price! lol) sorry to sound tight, but can anyone recommend somewhere that might do them cheaper? even the pressed ali (in yellow/white)...

I thought incorrect font/spacing was endorsable on you licence but someone recently told me it was a fine only. What's the damage & does it change on how dodgy the plates are?

I know it's legal to have the embossed metal style numberplates. Obviously only as long as the colours and font style/size etc is correct - but what about the little F or G emblem for the country? Anybody know if it is illegal to drive round a UK registered beetle with an F or G on the plate...
