Evening all, I'm rebuilding an engine and have just bolted together the short block. All is going fine (touch wood) except for inserting the new oil strainer. It just refuses to sit around the oil pick up tube. Visually, it appears central. I've tried applying reasonable force too. Any ideas...

I've bought a '61 beetle with a 1641 engine and full flow oil system. The exhaust is touching the rubber oil hose that leads to the oil pump and has burnt through the rubber. Can anyone recommend an exhaust that will easily clear the full flow oil hoses? Cheers. Matt.

Sorry for sound like a total retard but I am a bit confused... I see that you have one oil line from the pump into the filter, then a return line. But where does the oil get returned to:confused: Sorry once again for the daft question:D
