Currently running the dreaded 009, and have been meaning to get some vac advance back in my life for a while now. Would this dizzy be any good? Seems ludicrously cheap. Any experiences/advice?
It's for a 1641 twin port on the standard single carb (considering 34icts in the...
Got hold of a SVDA dizzy to replace my flat spotted 009.
It's an original bosch one. I've checked the code which suits my 72 bus.
Can I check it for wear or are they fairly robust?? I ask because the drive dog on the bottom has a bit of rock in it on the pin that holds it and didn't know if...
I have a standard 1600 motor with twin 34ict's, 009, blue coil and sports zorst. Pulls well etc, but whould I gain anything (even better MPG) from adding a Petronix with flamethrower coil and leads.
Or is it just some bolt on nonsense?
ok with all this dizzy talk I've decided I need a vac advance dizzy to replace the 009
option 1 - buy an unknown 2nd hand one that could be worn for say £5 and need a new vac can say £27 (gsf) and point/condencer £8 = total £40
option 2 - buy the £40 one Status are selling (including the vac...
Anyone know what the difference is betwen the vacuum unit and the centrifugal unit on a pertronix 1?
Would it be a different central magnet of the electronic gubbins?
Anyone know of the cheapest outlet?
After installing an electronic ignition I have followed the process to time my engine (inc 009) at 30 degress BTDC, which I believe to be 46mm round the pully on my set-up, at high revs.
This seemed to go ok.
However idle now seems to be more 'race over' than 'tick over'. I have adjusted the...
Always reading about how crap 009 dizzy's are so im gonna scrap mine, but what dizzy should i get and wheres best to get one? Got webber icts with the vacum linked together so do i just get a t piece to link to the dizzy?
My dizzy is nackered and I really don't want to put my nasty 009 on it.
Are the re-pro standard vac advance ones any good? Like this one http://www.coolairvw.co.uk/ca/3764/mia/d/vacuum+advanced+distributor/pid/6554292
It's a mild 1776, stock heads, scat c35 cam, dell 36s.
I have read some conflicting advice on timing a vac advance only dizzy.
VW-Resource (Link) says:
Old Volks Home (Link) says for the dizzy I have:
What is the reason for this difference and which should I use? I am asking because I plan on replacing my 009 in favour of the VW 111-905-205AA...
I need help!! I have a 1969 1600 Bus and it has a 34 carb and a 009 distributor on it. The problem is it doesn't run well and it has flat spots left right and centre. It like my misses, takes ages to go anywhere and doesn't know if its coming or going, drinks like a fish and costs me a fortune...
alright evryone i get all kinds of answers on this when i read the books but i want experience. I have a 72 sb 1600cc with a brosal/ solex 30/31 pict carb what is the best type of distributor for this set-up. I have a 009 dual vaccum but it's going out..
Thinking of upgrading my dizzy.
It a Dual Vac advance type (2 outlets on the vac can) but i have been reading up on these and apparently VW replaced these with Single vac advance dizzy as the DVDA was un-reliable.
The dizzy works (have blocked off the retard pipe) but have a bit of spare cash to...
Timing up a replacement 1600 dp "AD" code engine in my mates bug.. I've manually set the timing by lining up notches but want to put the strobe on to check against the crank pulley.
Anyone know what this motor should be timed to?
Looking to get a new 009. Moneys tight, but dont want to buy a poor quality repro item. Anyone know the best place for a good repro? Have checked just Kampers, VW heritage etc but dunno which to go for...
I have a German Bosch SVDA dissy with the following part No's Bosch 0 231 168 015 VW/Audi 043 905 205L. It does not appear on the Old Volkshome list. Anyone know what it was fitted to originally or where any info can be obtained.
Have an AD code 1972 1302s, single line SVDA dissy (code JFU 4 0231 146 101, VW 113 905 205AL). Family owned since new (not tinkered with too heavily I believe).
Am in the final stages of tune up after fitting new B&P kit and general clean up. Initially I set the timing to 7.5 BTDC following...
In my bus I have got an original 1600cc motor apart from the distributer which is an 009. It suffers from the usual flat spot just off idle, even though I have improved it somewhat playing with the carb.
I have been looking at getting one of Aircooled.net SVDA distributers, which by all...
