I am wanting to change my camper to twin carbs, it has a 1641 dp in it at present running on the normal pict 3 single carb. does anybody recommend a twin carb set up, i was favouring weber 40 idf, but realise there are other options.
Also apart from the inlet manifolds and air filters...
Hey all, could be an obvious one to someone with a lot more knowledge than I but here goes!
Just finished (nearly!) my '68 beetle. It has a 1300 single port engine with dual 34 or 36 (Spanish but not sure how to tell their size) weber carbs fitted via a bell housing mounted CSP linkage.
Twin Weber 44 IDF Carburettors fitted to my 1972 VW campervan back in 2009 but over spec'd for the engine so recently replaced with 40's. In this time the campervan has probably only done 8000 miles so they are in good condition. See the attached calibration photo for setup, any questions just...
I have recently got hold of some twin Dellorto frd 34b carbs (baby dells) I will be fitting them to a standard 1641 engine.
This is the kit I have
Will the standard fuel pump be ok for the twins?
What do you do about the choke?
Do I need a crank case breather?
I have 009 dizzy so I'll...
Here are my original (not cheap chinese replicas) solex kadron carbs that have been freshly rebuilt and jetted for a 1600. They come complete with manifolds (sprayed in high temp paint) and filters with original filter holders which have unfortunately been painted in black and red paint which...
I'm looking to replace the stock carb for twins
Engine is 1641, Engle 110, stock heads, heat exchangers, hideaway exhaust - no plans to go bigger but might take the grinder to the heads at some point
I want a painless conversion so I don't want a pair in need of rebuild
should I buy new 40 IDF...
Simple really. I'd like one, a pair or I'd take all four please along with it's fixtures and fittings, ie: brass spring, sleeve, cupped washer plus the green rubber washer too although I have the spring & rubbers bits and they are in a usable condition.
Can post photo's later if you need help...
As above including heat exchangers but no exhaust. Runs and starts will drive but needs timing doing. Can be seen running ring for more details on 0757 224 7149 Sensible Offers plz
Only selling due to my bug needing to go bug heaven:(
Biggest engine trauma so far.
1600AD Beetle engine, 009, timed all correctly.
All vacuum ports on engine and manifolds blanked,
only one balance port on left manifold, nothing on right, so blanked.
Removed my 34pict carb and manifolds, repositioned coil etc.
Fitted my twin 34 icts's, metal...
I have a pair of Weber DCNF 40mm Twin choke Carbs for sale now that I have Sold my Type 4 engine. They come with filters and linkage and manifolds for type 4 motors (both Porsche and vw formats). I can post and I'm open to offers or swaps but postage will be on top of the £250 I would like to...
I am fitting a pair of 40 IDFs to my camper's stock Type 4 2L. I want more power but I also want to keep it as quiet as possible.
I have heard about intake vibrations being damped by unifying the intakes so I am wondering why I shouldn't keep the stock dry air filter? (This has the additional...
I can't stop my twin solexs popping on my square when i rev it.
They are fine on idle, but i can hear slight popping from the exhaust.
Its mostly the left carb but the right one does it also.
Its a stock 1600, timing is at 0 TDC, valves are spot on. I lapped them in but i did notice a bit of...
So, where it best place to put the coil now that the standard location is obscured by the hex bar?
Whats the best orientation for the coil - pointing down I guess, as before.
Twin Weber 40IDFs, have one obvious fuel input on each, so do I need a Tee piece in the fuel line from the pump?
being technically challenged on the subject , I'm aware that adding a fuel injection system to an old dub is not a cheap option, but is it really a option worth consideration or saving up for, or are you better off in the long term with a decent set of twin carbs?
rev counter sold

Sorry about this but i could really do with some advice - bought a set of empi 34`s for a late bay with a 2l type 4 engine. The kit came with the carbs, little stubby manifolds, hex bar etc.
Came to fit them today however have hit a couple of problems :
1, Ive fitted the carbs onto the old...
I have bought some new bugpack manifolds for my Kadrons but the length of rubber tube that came with them is too short. Can i use a normal peice of hose or does it have to be anything special? Can't use the pipe that came off the original manifolds as the diameter of the new pipe is a lot bigger...
