Maybe Ernie, maybe....

Just to note, the headliners kit is a TMI one I bought about 12 years ago! It's been folded up in my loft all those years. We had to gently iron it and leave it hanging on the kitchen door for a couple of weeks to get the creases out. No currys were cooked during this period! Lol

I have a headliner to do on mine in the Spring, been putting it off a while. I'll throw myself into most jobs on my bug and be happy to learn as I go, but I have a real trepidation when it comes to the headliner. Yours looks great, pat on the back to your good lady (although probably not while she's clipping!)

Ah, hit a snag!
I've always been aware of how the drivers seat points inward, but I wasn't really bothered by it. Now I'm having a nice interior, I'd prefer for the front seats to be inline!
The problem is with the position of the seat runner frame, it was spot welded wrong when the floorpan was made.

Not just a little bit wrong either!

So I'm not fitting the carpet till this is corrected. I know I won't get the runner out without a degree of mangling, the bit the seat slides on is already mangled. So I've ordered a new frame on next day delivery. Cutting out the old one will need to be done carefully now the beautiful headliner is in!

Now, where did I put that spotweld drill.......?

My spotweld drill is at the workshop, an hour round trip. So out came some old snips, hammer, old screwdriver and pliers!
And no marks on the Headliner or sparks in the paint or glass.
Result!

Now she's outside I have installed the various anti theft devices. After all this effort, I want to keep her!

I've left the hubcaps off for now. Once I've driven a bit I will have to adjust the new brakes. On this year they adjust from the outside.

Remember the jetting quandary? The AF ratio gauge I fitted told me the 125 jets were too small. So today I tested the 140s I fitted. I didn't really need the gauge, the black smoke told me "too rich mate"!

The 125 jet gave a reading of 22-1
The 140 gave 9.8-1.

So I'm thinking of going 130 and seeing what I get.
Aiming for between 12.5-1 and 14.7-1.

Fortunately I bought a full selection of jets because I knew I'd have to experiment a bit.

A few finishing off bits to do. I had to buy a new battery too.

I went with Brentacre for the insurance. As its my daily, normal classic car insurance wouldn't really work. So now I get continuation of my no claims, legal cover, windscreen cover, all mods declared, agreed value and UNLIMITED mileage!

I still need door cards and a parcel shelf
