Well I've done a silly thing and decided to go for the most bhp that I can afford, the bottom ends built so I'm just waiting on the heads now. The guy at Stateside Tuning reckons that with my set up I will be pushing 115/120bhp, yay :D

Well it looks ok on paper and in numbers, I mean it's the best part of doubling the original 1700 type 4 power, but what will it do? Whats it's top speed going to be, and what sort of 1/4 mile will it run? Or will it just be good for nailing hill on long drives?

It'll certainly give it a bit of oomph :D

What gearbox are you running?

Is it based on a type 4 motor?

1700 type 4 from new? :)

if it was a type 4 motor from new - chances are it's got the 091 gearbox...

longer ratio 4th - better for motorway cruising! ;)

is the new engine gonna be a type 4 engine or a type 1 engine though? :D

Sorry dude, yes it was a type 4 from new and the new engine is the old engine thats been tampered with :D , but it's not the original engine, coz the one that I have modified has got no mech fuel pump mount so must have been a fuel injected lump.

Mmmm! Good grunt, then! :D

I reckon if its well set up, it'll go well over 100 with that gearbox.

I wouldn't advise it though; stock brakes and all that!

I've had 110 out of my 71bhp standard 2litre bay before now ;)

Hey there,

I'm running a type four 2ltr. This engine has been totally rebuilt with only a few mods. Bhp came in at 110 at flywheel, i was very happy with that. I also changed the box to a later 2lrt type. I have had it way off the clock (reads 90mph) and still more in it. Good to cruise at 80 all day long. I haven't had it on the strip yet and would be interested to see what it would run. Rolling road is a must..

Hills........no problem :D

I got over 100 on a stocker 1800 type 4 that I had in my old microbus. The engine (which was the original one) had only done 45k from new, though.

Had SOOOOO much grunt it wasn't funny but I wont tell you what top speed I got out of it.

Mine's just gone past 260,000 - it's the original engine, and its never been reconned!

Oh, and the bus is 100% stock height; means its not as aerodynamicalised as most :D
