My project has been on hold for few years and I'm having a big push to get things moving again.
It will be a partially stripped out 71 beetle, fast road car, seeing occasional track and drag use. I want to future proof it now for when the power inevitably gets pushed higher and higher.
G50 would be the dream but they are silly money now.
Bears Motorsport have dropped their 5 speed conversion.
I spoke to Subarugears as this sounded the perfect solution but due to the larger distance between the output flanges relative to the input shaft on a Subaru box Vs a VW box they couldn't be certain if a type1 or type4 engine would fit under a standard body & decklid. They are mainly used for Subaru engine conversions.
Seems that leaves me with a Gene Berg kit or possibly a Porsche 915 (which I have my reservations about )
Is anyone running a berg 5 speed? I'm aware that it's essentially a tall 4th used for 5th and the others geared to suit.
Any UK suppliers?
Am I missing any other alternatives?
