Hi can anyone help. I want a 12 volt gear box for my 65, bug, so can i use any box from any 12 volt beetle and what problems will i face changing it?. Cheers :D

If the original box is working (i.e. it changes gear, and transmits drive to the wheels), you don't need to change the whole box just to run the car on 12 volt electrics, just change the starter motor bush so it will accept a 12 nvolt starter. Some people don't even do that, and run the 6 volt starter on 12 volts, (but not for very long).

You'd have to tell us a bit more about your intentions.
Different (larger) motor?

'65 is swing axle, so you would need a later swing axle gbox,
not IRS.

As Laurence said, there is no reason not to use the old '65 box.
But, if you go to a 12V starter and 12V flywheel, the bellhousing
must be enlarged (grinding).
