Howdy All,

Here's a few pics of the Beetle i've recently bought for my son for when he turns 17 in a few years. It had a knock to the front which has all now been sorted, so it'll be a case of saving the pennies and getting work completed as time progresses. She apparently had a body off resto in the 90's (all the wing bolts were brushed with oil to stop them rusting) and she's due a visit to Vee Dub Performance in Welling to have a going over and upgrade to 123 bluetooth electronic ignition.

For the moment, i've done the following:

New Window Seals all round
New Door Cards
Replaced Fuel Lines to Cohline (100% ethanol proof)
Coated necessary areas with Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 and Hydrate 80
Both doors have been replaced with rust free ones which the bodyshop had stored away gathering dust which was handy

Cleaned up the inside (don't think it had a hoover run over it in a while) and i'm into my detailing so whilst the patina will remain, she'll be cleaned with a Matt Shampoo/Matt Detailer and Sealant.

Picked the motor up from the great James Wotton at Vee Dub Performance yesterday who has gone over the old girl and completed the following:

• Full Service
• New sump plate and sorted sump plug which had a slight weep
• Valves Adjusted and new Scat rocker covers fitted
• Carb cleaned/Fitted new choke unit
• Addressed heating/cables so now have heat coming into the cabin
• Brake light switch
• Eva Resto Bash Plate
• Taylor HT Leads
• Bosch Blue Coil
• 123 Ignition Bluetooth coil with adjustable curve

Great little motor, great colour too - looks just right (in my opinion) with the white wheels and white walls.

Cheers FC - colour is a British Standard Matt Crimson - It's in cellulose & needs a bit of a tidy up on the roof as I had cover on it which made it sweat & has made it go pink in some areas so i'll prep and address with a roller when the weather warms up.

Had some pinstriping work completed today on the engine lid just to add a bit more character to the old girl:

Just needs a day or so indoors to harden nicely and then all ready to put back on.

Inspired by these headlight grilles at the Volksworld show:

Got a pal of mine to make some up using an existing set of mesh grilles I bought. Need a bit of fettling to fit snug and the metal tab that houses the screw at the bottom has been removed and a new, longer piece, welded in:

Bought one of these cup holders from Torkwerks in Canada. Little bit different and fits using the bolt that connects the gear shifter housing - nice, clean & simple:

Bought some second hand heat exchangers - just a little surface rust which i've rubbed down and treated and then coated with VHT paint which will hopefully keep the rust a bay for a bit longer (just need a final coat):
