72 westy ragtop Excellent Condition *SOLD*

1972 Westfalia Continental

The camper was stripped down to a rolling shell. The front panel was replaced. The front panel was modified by a Coach Builder so the front indicators could be mounted in the front bumper.
The front lower valance was changed to accommodate the 1968-72 style front bumper.
The inner front valance was replaced.
Sections of cab floor were replaced.
Both front wheel arches were replaced with Oem items.
Both cab doors were replaced with Oem items.
Custom made Galvanised Front jacking points replaced.
Outriggers, inner and outer sills, inner wheel arches were replaced.
The sliding door was replaced with a rust free Australian item.
The back valance was replaced.
Offside rear lower quarter panel and battery tray was replaced.
The rear bumper was replaced with a pre 73 item.
The engine lid was re-skinned with flat metal sheet.
The elevating roof was removed, all holes welded, and ragtop fitted.
The Ragtop has just been renewed.

The body shell was prepared (some parts sandblasted) and painted inside and out. The Camper was taken to an Independent Porsche Restoration Company for a Full Re spray in 2k Paint.

The underside and cavities were wax oiled (SEVEN Litres of Cavity wax!!) and sprayed with under body ëstone chipí.

The front seats were replaced, all carpets were replaced and door/roof panels were re trimmed. The dash was removed and powder coated. The rear interior is original, but the floor was replaced with laminate flooring.
The rear seats have been re trimmed.

The rear brakes were completely renewed including new back plates.
New copper brake lines have been fitted throughout with brass fittings.
New front discs and pads fitted.
New flexible hoses fitted all round.

Front and rear suspension was overhauled with new dampers and ball joints fitted.
The suspension has been lowered with a cutíníturn.

The gearbox was stripped, checked, cleaned refilled with new oil and re fitted.
A ëRemtecí recon. Engine was fitted. All tinware was sand blasted and repainted and a pair of Weber 34 carbs fitted.
The Engine was replaced in 2004 and has done approx. 10k miles.

The restoration was carried out from 1999 to 2003.

The Camper is always garaged, and has seen more water by being washed and polished, than rain!!

Very loud stereo installed. 6x9ís front and rear, tweeters up front and 2 10î Subs in a box, 3 amps ,graphic controller and CD. Max output of 1200W

It has a 120amp leisure battery with split charging system, and 240v hook up.

Lots of history including receipts, motís, original service book etcÖ.

All fabrication, welding and mechanical work has been carried out by me. I am an apprenticed served Skilled Electro/Mechanical Maintenance Engineer who works for BMW.

I have owned this van since 1992 and it has been my pride and joy.
Due to family commitments I have upgraded to a VW T4.
