A PAIR of trousers

okay...imagine yourself in a place that you feel at peace... :tick:

Because a trouser was originally a tube which was attached to each leg singularly. Therefore you needed a pair of trousers.

Why the same reasoning doesn't apply to bras is a mystery to me.

because bras started out with the name brassiere like hundreds of years ago, and like most stuff the name gets shortened

Don't get me started on scissors or glasses!

Why is it called a "Television set" but yet it comes ready assembled?

If there was a set of something like a train set, I'd expect there to be lots of bits you have to fit together in order for it to work.

I'm reminded of the Benny Hill sketch where he asked for a size 15 bra. 'You see one of them fits my bowler hat, which is size seven and a half...'
