Hi folks, sorry to bore yous all again but im another 1 of those young 21 year old newbies who knows nothing and is seeking general buying advice and tips on a Camper. Ive also posted this on justkampers forums.
Now i know the basics from my watercooled VW's,had loads and currently have a vr6 corrado and a daily mk2 gti!

So im looking at a 1972 type 2 Camper Van which is on ebay and a 40mins drive away which is good cos im up in Scotland.
The camper seems to be in good overall condition however its main bad points is that it needs a new crank shaft and bearings, or as the ad says it might be wiser and cheaper to put a different 2nd hand engine in.
It also requires welding underneath and on the front beam but alot of other welding has been professionally carried out.

So apart from this, what else is there to look out for?
Any tips and hints or as this question must get asked thousands of times a good handy buyers guide link, website?

It has a "pop top and a fridge (not working), sink, gas hob and grill, gas bottle, water tank, double bed and mattress"

It is goin for £750 which i think so far is good value as it is ideal to get me and my gf touring scotland/lake district to get us into it!

Thanks in Advance
Michael

Go check it out and take someone with you who knows what they're looking for....I'm sure there are experienced guys locally who would look it over with you. They're very likely to know of the bus if it's local to them. There's no better way to find out about a vehicle than to scramble underneath it, lift the carpets, take it for a drive etc. If the seller is genuine the won't hesitate to show you around the bus.

Good luck and welcome to VZi. :hangloose :D
welcome to VZi, know nothing about campers but if you do cruise over to the lakes then give us a shout, there are a few of us over on the west coast and we can organise a meet up. :hangloose
