I've got a de-humidifier and blower in my cellar. The chap is coming round on wednesday to take a damp test, but, when they rang to make the appointment, the lady said they wanted to take a damp reading and take the de-humidifier and blower away.

The last time they took a reading, the reading was 700. That was just before xmas.

I know that the ins co are paying the company a set amount, regardless of how long I have their equipment here. I get the impression that he (dehumidifier owner) wants his stuff back asap.

Does anyone know what a 'dry' reading should read please ?

One of my neighbours has just had theirs taken away, and another neighbour the other side still has hers... they've both had them for approx 6 months. I've had mine for 3 months because my ins company are shite.

Cheers :D

I now know the joists shouldn't be more than 12% damp, and I'll ring em tomorrow to ask what the brick level should be ! :D
