so 2 blasted sash windows, have snapped their sash cords

I need to know how to open the sash box,

do i need to take out both windows, or are there 2 seperaet channels, for the 2 different weight channels

-the bottom springer busted out last night on one, and the glass has slipped down
:(

can i buy a replacement 'stringer'?

are they all hardwood?
I don't want to replace with soft par? - if i need something else?

Pain in the arse job.
Slide sash up to the top and there will be a timber "pocket" you can prise open to reveal the sash weights. One on each side of the window.to change the cord you need to remove the bead holding the window in so you can fix the cord onto the sash.Get somebody to hold the sash if you haven`t done it before.

it

it doesn't say anywhere on that site to:
if you have blown tenons, simply whack through some 6 inch screws
then fill up the large void with body filler.
