Anyone on here got a Dell

Ive got a Dell Latitude,dont have that problem with mine

I've got an Inspiron 5100 laptop, but I've never had that problem.

It pulls out easily if the cable's caught on something and I move the computer, but it doesn't fall out on its own.

The power supply does get VERY hot though.

My wife works at Dell - just asked her about it, and although she works on the services side of things and not hardware, she has suggested if it's still under warranty (how old is it?) - to get Dell to send you another power cable. This will hopefully cure the problem.

If it's out of warrenty, then still call the Dell helpline and ask them what they think - they may sell you another cable - or failing that go to PC World or another outlet.

I've had my dell (the right model) for ages, and nothing's gone wrong. But it says, if it explodes, I get a brand new todays version of the computer....which means I'll get an XPS ... if the laptop is ruined by the battery exploding.

erm... i use my laptop on my lap... i dont want anything exploding there!!!


I have in Inspiron, and the power plug was loose... i just "sqaushed" it a little, and now it doesnt fall out :lol:

hell no!

just take plug out, give it a little squeeze with pliers, plug it back in... forget about it

well at least until i saw this thread... hasnt come out again though

I've a 9300 no problems with power cable, battery hasn't exploded in a ball of flames either...


..so far.

Check the reg number on the battery - and check against the list on the Dell website. If it appears on there then call Dell and tell them - don't know what they'll do though - new battery I s'pose can't see them giving away new computers!!
