casting isn't too hard to learn... getting really shit hot at it takes years... you can practice in your garden or a park... you don't need water... and can do it with no fly attached, so no danger of hurting yourself (edit: as panickyidiot has said above)I'd really like to learn, it's been a long term ambition and one I'd like to follow through on this coming year.
I imagine that casting flies is bloody difficult - at this point I can't afford to pay out for lessons though so where do I start?

coolTBH i havnt moved onto boats yet, last thing i want is a 60lb Conger on the line.
Go to Brighton Marina.Theres a huge pier(arm) that goes out in a big curve dedicated to fishing thats about 1/4 mile long.
Ive had macaral,Whiting n garfish out of there.Ive also seen wray pulled out of there aswell.
