dont know if this the right place but here goes
i am thinking of pulling the body off a 1970 bug and turning it into a buggy main reason is the heater channels have gone at the rear and the sides of the body above the channels are showing signs of metal worm
if i turn it into a buggy does it need a sva test
and which body kit is best to go for looking at lwb to save cutting the pan as i cant weld
thanks
andy

If you keep it lwb, it shouldn't need an sva ;)
Check the v5 , it should have volkswagon 2 axle rigid sedan as the desription.
Just change the sedan to convertible.
And keep it sorn while you carry out the mods.
As you are not shortening the chassis you should be ok.
Regards Paulus. ;) ;)
thats one bit of good news but i must be mad doing a buggy up north near blackpool

Nothing wrong with Buggies up North.
Check the chassis before you rip it to bits, especially the Frame head, give it a good belt, it must be solid, or you are in for an expensive repair (as you can't weld it yourself). Also check floorpans, and the Front axle beam, both ends are prone to rust, replacement is straightforward, but more expense.
