cabrio parts can be expensive.
They can be awkward to see out of the back with the roof up or down.
They can leak if you get a moody one. Purchace price will be higher.

There is nothing quite like a cabrio on a hot summers day or evening, soo cool.
They look great.

same again, only cons, roof wont leak if the seals are ok and it fits right

top down on a sunny day (hot or cold) is ideal

rear view is not a problem, fit a 1955 lump in the back

me and the missus did 500 plus miles to bug jam and back with the hood down. we got back at 1.00 am , watched the stars all the way up the A1

The plan is for a rather large amount of 'OOOOFFFF' in the rear.

Question is: Will I have to compromise useage due to the softness of the top and the oooffness of the engine?

You need a cage if you want to race. But apart from that you should be fine.

The only downside I can see is they are a little noisy. But the best fun on a sunny day.

1955 is the right ammount oooofffff

enough to surprise the corsa boys, but still fully driveable

Daz in northallerton built me a good strong 1955 which pulls from 1000rpm and does not run hot (this is important in cabbys with the cooling)

I would have thought a cabrio is a bit heavier as well so an even bigger engine might be in order...

the cooling on a cabrio is reduced as the aqir only enters through the deck lid as there is no room for the vents above the decklid (the hood sits there)

and as the are used in hot days and car a bit more weight, performance motors need to be fitted with extra cooling for the oil

just spent the last 1/2 hour putting all good cabrio links here
