Heritage list some oversize cam bearings, 0.25mm oversize for a reground cam going from the description, but I doubt that any reputable builder would use reground camshafts when new ones are readily available.
Vege often grind the bearings on cams, as did VW. If you have a good cam with the bearings scored, it works. The other thing is that you can often get caught out with either Vege or VW and put stock OD cam bearings in to a bored case or a ground cam into standard bearings. There is a need for them if only for that!
It's a bloody horrible warranty claim if you build one up and send it off. Believe me, I've done it (but not often, it's amazing what a self administered kicking can do to concentration)....
Vege and VW used to also shave a bit off the mating faces of a case, machine everything round again and then reduce the bronze dissy drive gear a bit. You then fit a nice new drive gear and the dissy drive refuses to go down and stay down. It's a bleedin' mine field!
Worse one was a re-con engine I was asked to look at recently which had standard OD mains in a line bored case. Some bloke had suddenly decided to become a 'specialist'. Charged £800 for a stock 1600 engine then told the customer that he, the customer must have done something wrong!
