The manifolds cracked on my 1973 1600 twin port westfalia making it cut out at idle. Thought of buying dual weber 34 ict carbs but they have no chokes for cold starts. Will it run ok from cold? Will it effect the reliability of the engine? Make it run hotter? Please help!

A couple of pumps (on the throttle) in the morning and it'll fire up, then gently feather the throttle for a minute or two and orft you go.

Some of the linkage kits are a bit naff and don't line up with the throttle tube but careful feckling and farting about can get them rinning well.

Vent your oil breather into the air cleaner. Beware of some of the air cleaner breather inlets supplied. Some have nice 1/2" outside diameters but less than 1/4" inside diameter, meaning that your engine won't breath and will chuck oil out of every orifice:eek:
