Distributor removal??? '92 T4 Transporter

This is on my 1992 2.0 litre petrol...

Trying to take out the hall sender and I am told that it sits at the base of the dizzy - I cant feel the collar (if it is similar to an old aircooled one) to loosen it to remove

Any tips - it all looks a bit tight - am I best taking all the cowling off the underside first?? Only need to get the hall sender out!!
