Is the engine lid mounted properly ? (e.g. centrally, with the right sort of panel gap at the top edge), you could adjust the lid so it sits a bit lower. You shouldn't have to file anything, is the catch plate bent ?
Engine lid - lock woes
Can't lock the engine lid. Lock engages when lid is lifted, but doesn't when closed. Car is stock 67 Beetle.
Have played about with catch on rear apron, but still no joy. Looks like catch needs lowering a few mm, but currently at lowest setting.
What's the easiest solution, should I file down the catch plate a little?
