I have 1969 bay which does not have the original engine in it, I think it is a 1600, it does not say on log book. My problem being the engine number which should be under the generator stand is blank.
Any ideas?:)

best invent your own number, if you used the number that was issued when it was new, there's a slim chance that the engine could still be in use, it might show up funny if there were 2 engines out there with the same number
i'd go with your initials and a date, say ''RC21/1/2008''
a unique number, no problem

The engine my bus came with was an old AR case from a bug that had been converted to 1600. It was junk, so I replaced it with a home built 1641 with a brand new case, no number. So when I registered it I used the original number from my birth certificate. As my bus is a US imported it unlikely that the original engine will ever appear on these shores.
