*Start of Rant*

My mum owns a P reg ford fiesta. Its not the zetec, its a kent but its got an ECU and an EFI. recently its started cutting out and stalling. The garage we took it too says its a problem with the ECU. To me this sounds expensive. Not knowing much about engines is a bit of a downfall, but after reading up on the internet, it would seem that its a faulty sensor that is to blame.

Well last night I sat back about thought to myself. Why bother with all this electronical stuff, if an engine can run perfectly well without? seems silly to me, I mean my uncles 1600 bay has a 009 distributer and a carb and that runs so much better.

The garage we took it to has 3 other fiestas with the same problem. I just sat back and thought, my beetle wont have any of these problems :D

To me this is the charm of the aircooled dubs, not having to deal with computers and such. I mean I am a computer nut and all that, but I think that its nice to sit back and watch pure mechanical power :D :D :D

*Rant Over*Does anyone else agree?

I had a look on the net, its badged up as an Endura-E.
My mum wants to get rid of it and get a new fiesta, were trying to talk her into getting a polo or something, about 2 cars ago she had a mk2 golf, she loved it, we had it for 5 years and it only ever broke down once and that was only coz the battery was dud.

Good luck getting your Bay through a modern emissions test with just carbs and Dizzy :)

Not sure about a P reg fiesta, but most cars now will have a Cat and closed loop fuel system, there will be an oxygen sensor monitoring the exhaust gas and tuning the engine on the fly adjusting the air/fuel ratio as it goes, it uses all those sensors to check for engine load, amount of air getting into the engine etc etc.

The emisions out of a modern engine is a fraction of most Aircooled veedubs :)

I know the polo (FI) needs a lot less tuning and maintenance than the camper or bug! Roll on a cheap and easy to use (so I know what's going on) bolt on FI system for an aircooled :)

Its a bit pricey but if I every have the money to build an engine a FI system will be first on the list :D

I must admit I have always preffered Razzle over Fiesta or Escort, although I was a little dissapointed to see they had moved away from naming good top self porn after cars.
