Hello there, ordered up a new set of weber 34 twin carbs for my 1641 twin port.

What are they like to fit with the engine in place ? What have I got to look forward to lol

Cheers Paul

Pretty easy mate BUT before you fit them sand the manifold to cyl head flanges on a piece of glass with some 400 wet and dry on the glass and some WD40. I say this as the flange isn't always totally falt and hence air leaks and poor running ensue.

They should come with a setup guide but a carb balancer will make sure they are spot on ;)

Just undo these and maybe a support nut on the centre section and it'll all come off.
I couldn't get the manifold with the preheat pipe through under the alternator so alt and fan shroud had to be loosened and lifted which is not worth trying with the engine in IMHO (don't know if you have more room though in a bus)

:)

Thanks for all the replys, just had a tinker as I had an issue with lights for mot all sorted now though.

That's what I was thinking, the nuts on inlets look easier enough to get to but I can't see the manifold coming out that easy.

They should be with me Tuesday but planning a trip this weekend in the bus so will be the week after before I fit.

Out of interest what's the pipe between the 2 carbs for ?

The pipe from the manifolds is a balance pipe. Helps with smoother running of the engine. ;)

For a linkage stay away from EMPI unless someone says they are good cos their quality has gone way downhill since moving production to China ;)

Otherwise, Look at all the USA vendors, all the UK vendors and then CSP in Germany. Far as I'm aware there ain't many parts manufacturers in the UK anymore but depending on your fabrication skills a linkage ain't so hard to make with proper rose joint links :D
