Fuel Gauge

I think it must be broke or stuck??

it goes right up to full everytime and just stays there no matter how much petrol..

it did go to half tank just before i ran out of petrol though haha

I've got a 1969 beetle.

any ideas whats wrong?

probaly the sender unit, if you disconect the wire(s) from it it should go to empty and if you earth the wire it should read full on the gauge, if not it could be the gauge itself

I had the same fault on my van, bought a new gauge & sender unit and it turned out to be the voltage regulator. Process of elimination im afraid but jims web site helped me get it sorted
