my outlook 2003 feel flat on its arse tonight i reinstalled it but know its telling me my pst files corrupt does anyone know if theres any free software around that can recover it and get my emails back

Microsoft provide scanpst.exe to help recover corrupted .pst files

Beware though, scanpst whilst correcting the structure of the pst doesn't always restore all emails. Before you run it, make a backup of your pst file.

When you run scanpst it will check the pst file and report any problems. Before carrying out repairs it will offer you the option of backing up the pst as well but you're doubly secure if you back it up before hand.

Install thunderbird and try importing messages - settings - etc.

If you're only using Outlook for email this method will be fine. If you're using the calendaring option then you're still missing out.

It's a shame Outlook corrupts PST files so easily!!
