Edit:

Spec is:
64mm crank, dynamically balanced with flywheel, clutch & pulley,
85.5mm piston/Cylinders, shortened to 1200 cylinder length. Pistons clearanced for short stroke.
C25 cam with HD single springs & lifters,
9:1 static compression,
Power pulley,
26mm oil pump & full flow cover,
Deep sump,
External oil filter
Ported 1600 twin port heads
Std. 1:1 Rockers (will update to 1:4 one day
Twin DRLA40 carbs
Doghouse fan and oil cooler
Std. SVA Distributor for now.

Its been run in on my test stand, just need to set carbs up properly.

Lot of work for probably not much HP, but it will be fun and its been a good leaning experience

Very nice and different😉
Curious to see the performance🤔
Abel
Thanks for the complements. Its been a long road to get to this point , time and money being the restrictions.
I can't wait to see how it performs, I will hopefully get it tuned properly on a rolling road too :D
There's just all the other stuff to do, as the bug has been off the road for six years. Im installing all the additional relays and wiring for the gauges, external oil cooler fan & thermostat, etc etc at the moment.

What did you do with the con rods? As the 1200 and 1300-1600 are just a little different?!?!
1200 rods and much work on the little end?

Cheers
Luke
I agree! well done for not being a sheep and being individual just like Hot1200

You must reap the rewards and finish the build with a dyno set-up would be a shame and a waste otherwise

I notice a little bodywork going on in the background, do the rear quarters correspond to the "Sweeny Line" principal? ;) :D

:)

Ahh haa, yes there was some jiggery pokery with the con-rods.
It still has the standard 1200 64mm crank. The con-rods, I pressed out the little end bearings and bored out the small end to fit the larger bearing, so it would fit the 85.5mm piston's gugon pin ;)

The big end cap bolts I replaced with ARP bolts, then weighed each rod and got them within 0.1g (??!) of each other. The piston skirts I had to mill down to clear the case (due to the short stroke). I then got them within 0.1g or so of each other.

This is one of the reasons why I wanted to do it: Not because it would get the most power for the money, but more because I could. I got loads of questions on thesamba forum, of 'why dont you stick a 69mm crank in it'? etc etc. Too easy, everyone has done it etc.
I will get it on a rolling road dyno with out a doubt :D

The bug is almost finished: I've installed the CSP vented disc brake conversion up front with sway-away adjustable beam. Rear will be lowered a bit with adjustable spring plates.
Not quite sure what you mean about the 'Sweeny Line' principle  I've just slapped some filler onto the new repair panel, but got no further with it, I get distracted with the mechanical bits :D

Here's some of the machining work I did:

1200 cylinder on right, shortened 85.5mm (1600) on left:

Cool! - Proper workshop!

Do you have a build thread?

Sweeney line...

Andy Sweeney (user name Last Triumph), his name has become synonymous with the "Sweeney Line"

:D
No build thread. Maybe I would if I had time.

Ahh now I know what a sweeney line is

I think mine is almost straight........

There is not much room with all the extra pipework and oilcooler/fan: Adjusting the clutch cable was tedious!

I made blanking plugs from acetal (POM) plastic. They're held in with grub screws clamping onto the inside face of the pipe sub.

This is the oil breather tank I was going to use, which I bought some years ago and only got round to fitting it last year! It's too big! There was not enough clearance at the back between the doghouse cooler and fire wall for my setup. Pity, as its a stainless steel one from CSP (If anyone is interested, I'm open to offers...).

NICE.
I love these 'little' builds and people using the 64mm stroke.
Whilst everybody says that the stock 64mm cranks are Mr Whippy and twist etc I reckon that will be a rev monster and you'll have trouble not putting your foot in it!!! :sneaky:

Video PLEASE as soon as you get it sorted
