How bad is your street?

We are moving in about 3 weeks time and were thinking back over the last 13yrs we've had here (our first home). My missus said she will miss our old home as it's been a nice place to live.So i got a piece of paper and wrote down every bad thing that has happened to us over the years.

Burgled twice (once whilst still in bed)
4 different cars vandalised
fence kicked in
wall kicked down
Graffiti on newly rebuilt wall
both our kids new bikes stolen
2 of their friends new bikes stolen
Old dear across the road broken into and assaulted
Peadophille in street convicted
4 cars burnt out in field opposite
stolen car crashed into lampost
2 motorbikes burnt out
hanging baskets stolen
2 attempted abductions of children in the next road.

This makes for quite disturbing reading, but what is more disturbing is that we have both considered it to be overall a "good" street, and also been told by local police that it is an "ok" area,
So,is it because we accept all this crap as being "normal" and these things happen everywhere and it's just a part of normal life?

I feel ashamed now that i turned a blind eye to all this shit.

I now can't wait to get my kids out and hopefully to somewhere that they deserve to be brought up.

Ade. :(

No wonder your moving :(

In the 10 years I've lived on my street (& 19 yrs in this village) I've had a bus hit by a speeding motorist, my shitroen ax hit by a drunk cid officer  the square hit by a neighbour & the other neighbours dog barks to much.
Not bad going seen as though I have gypsy camps surrounding me, but I guess its not what you know ;)

sounds about right! broken into and car robbed within 6 days of us being here!
In the last 14 ish years where I live, we've had one police chase end at the bottom of the road (6 years ago?)

and last week, a broken windscreen, broken wingmirror and a dented (work) van.
Think the whole road has seen one or two break ins over all that time.

All the above is throughout the whole street, and none of it has affected me. So I consider myself very lucky :)

However, some of my neighbours make comments about "living next door to a scrapyard", despite me keeping my beetle garaged and hardly ever working on it.
They'll love my new project when it comes :D
we live in a nice street its usally quiet except for last night when are neighbours who are split up but still living together decide to have an arugument right outside are house at 1am, well this is the first time in a long time that are baby has slept though so we wernt best pleased.
Anyway bloo went out and told them to shut the f**k up very politely they had some mates with one of them one started to laugh so bloo told him to shut up before he bounced him up and down the street. Then one of the neighbours asked what are problem was apart from it being 1am and right outside are house and kids bedroom being at the front. So yet again bloo told them very politely to shut up and told the neighbour that if they didn't take it else where he would cut his heart out they pissed off after that. :)

ps. i know i was not polite but after 11 months of the baby not sleeping through the night i was a tiny bit pissed off.

Shit!
You guys have really had it tough.

I thought I lived in Chav ville but I have to say, aside from one of my neighbours leaving their dog out until midnight barking its head off and a couple of parties during the summer its been OK here.

I get more upset with the volume of traffic using our road as a rat run than anything else.

And I live in Nottingham...you know...gun capital of the world...if you believe everything you read :(

A couple of cars broken into and a trolley jack stolen from under a car. That's about all that's happened on my road in 7 years.
9 years ago my house was broken into(2 weeks after moving in!!)

2 days ago some kid with a can of stella thought it would be good to take a baseball bat and smash car windows...7 in total before the police turned up!.

man stabbed last year..by his mrs...nice gal!.

Apart from that it all good here
I've had my Bug keyed, lots of eggs thrown at our Disco, once on my Clio, dust caps nicked.... and next door's garage has been broken into a couple times.... a couple of rear windows smashed on cars on the street...

I feel better now - doesn't seem bad compared with what a lot of you have!
Luckily, we live in anice town and on a nice street.
We had a serious assault, but that only happened on our street because the guy was chased all the way from the town centre (10 min walk) we had the police knocking on every door after that.

And a few cars had their wing mirrors knocked of by a piss head one night, again walking home from the centre of town.

i know i am lucky, and i really feel for all people who live in towns with appauling crime rates, its not fair, you pay the same taxes, so should have the same amount of police precence.
Unfortunately and its totaly true, its seems that crime rates are related to house prices (exception being london where all houses are expensive) Bury is a expensive town to live in, and has one of the lowest crime rates in the country.
That said, it still has its fair share of waifs and strays causing shit!

right in five years not one thing

TIP if you move make sure half the local plod live in your street.
we moved from a place like hell on earth and i feel sorry for the people that still have there homes and loved ones growing up there.

i am very lucky indeed
My old place in town was a lovely little alley with quaint lilltle beamed cottages....that attracted a group of bastardos whom took it upon themselves to enter the house of a 94 yr old fella, pin him down (coz he was obvioulsy a threat) whilst his home was robbed. This happened 3 times in the space of a few months (to him)

Some local little t***s walked down the road, systmatically keying/spray painting and breaking the wing mirrors of the cars, ending with a grand finale of putting a shopping trolley through the windscreen of the last car.

My friend went to drive to work, only to find his car on bricks and his wheels gone!

What really makes me laugh is that Lee was changing a tyre on our car once and 4 different people came out to see what was going on and scold him....but....did they see any of the things above happening....of course they bloody didn't. Neighbour-hood watch area my ass!

Where I live now, i've had some one piss on my van but I'd be suprised if that happened again :tick: :D

You gotta feel sorry for this yobs, I mean, youngsters. They have nothing to do and are good deep inside really. We just need to help them, give them a chance....

heheh

i know this aint very pc, the yobs need a good fuckin' pastin'

a good tight hiding, then another one, then another one.

they need taught respect and how to conduct their lives in a civil and decent matter. something that doesnt seem to exist in this downward spiralling existance that is modern day britain :(

honest hardworking people lay in they're beds awake at night worried, sometimes scared of what will happen next, while these lowlife scum fucks from the shallow end of the genetic cess pool, run rings round the authorities  for how much longer will the scum continue to do this? how much longer before ordinary decent people start fighting back?

this boils my piss, earlier on this year, something happened, the police caught the person who tried to kill my friend, they couldnt fuckin' touch him .....sometimes i wish that night i had just gone out the door and wasted the cunt where he stood and dealt justice out there and then :(

Nothing as bad as the first ones but any area would be boring without something interesting happening.

10yrs ago - Local butcher hanged himself after wife ran off with another woman.

5yrs ago my car was hit by a pizza delivery guy and almost wrote off, then found he had no insurance and I had to foot the bill and the business sold and he dissapeared and the police said well "shit happens"
Also this was when the road outside (a Main through fare) was frozen solid and no gritters came out for 8 hrs.

Had Young girl who turned into yob from hell in space of 12months, fortunatly at hight of trouble mother put house up for sale and dissapeared... all quiet now.

Young womand and her daughter both on ASBO live round corner, her hubby is a crak head... only one in immediate area... i think.

And finally last weekend some bald headed piss head drove his 06 plate subaru impretza??? into the side of a buss ogt out of the car threw 5 cans of beer out of the wrecked passenger foot well and jumped in another car with his mate and dissapeared. half hour later as caqr burned away with the bus the police and fire engine arrived....

Not bad really. I am happy here. Life would be sooooo boreing without some exitement from time to time.

when i lived with my mum and dad an old lady got murdered oppersite are house, but the police couldn't do the lad for murder for stupid reasons. So my dad did the next best thing got my uncle and went and kicked the shit out of him lets just say he didn't do any other crimes after that, and the police turned a blind eye to my dad and uncle doing what they did.

A woman set fire to herself in her garden and she died then some wankers up the road deicde it would be fun to make fun of her daughter not knowing that her son was a black belt.

thats about it really though 18 years of living there

Aps
I bought my house 10 years ago.
Five fights in the streets
One pedo
Some shits find it funny to walk on the cars on the way home from the pub
The next door neighbours dont work and argue all night, and I mean till 4am.They also have five smalll dogs that yap day and night.
Untold number of fights in the pub

And this area of town is not bad.
as bad as you thing nuneaton is, we've never had anything bad happen

the worst was when the neighbours called us while we were out saying we were burgled, turned out the cat set the alarm off
