how do people become Mods?

so apart from donning a parker, jumping on your vespa and heading off to Brighton (preemptive strike to save Pyro typing  ) how do people become mods on here (not personally interested, just curious)?

Are they elected or nominated or do you simply donate a suitable Porsche in Brians garage? ;)

I dunno, i believe they have different screen to what we see though.
you dont ask ;)
it's like the free masons, except the grand wizard has better cars.
From what I gather, you're chosen by the other mods because you have something to offer that they lack as a collective... it's a balance thing. (and I don't mean something they WANT, I mean something to offer VZi as a community. i.e. a different perspective)

TBH, I think it's a thankless task :(, some of the Mods get a LOT of shit just because they're keeping order.
The first rule of becoming a moderator: don't talk about being a moderator.
not sure about here, but I was asked to be a mod on a landrover forum a few years ago. Basically, I posted a lot, didn't kick off every five minutes, and answered a lot of tech questions (I was building a 110 at the time). I guess like most things in life,,if the face fits etc...Jas

incidentally, thats the reason I said no thanks on the landrover forum.

I hear they are hatched.
i heard that too.

i heard that too.
I heard they are created in a lab somewhere....

xx
Thank God they're not made on a certain Fiesta site. That's run like a forum just for mods and everybody else is treated like a guest/kid!

Ditto on the 2 forums I moderate on. Both forums have polar opposite moderating policies too, which is hard to keep up with sometimes

They must like the power or they would surely hand their badges in.

Mods cannot be created or destroyed, they can only change forum.
Ive heard its a bit like International Rescue
Apparently in a land far far away there is a "secret garden" with Trees that fold back by remote control and they all sit al laptops by the pool waiting for a "Spiv type" to turn up
Someone hits the "Report Post" button, an Alarm goes off they all put down their Pina Coladas and jump into Action.
We know not where the Mission control is. We dont need to either cos im sure my dreams will be shattered when i find out thats its some windswept Shed in Barnsley.
What it takes to be a MOD?
IMO (and thats an uneducated guess at such things)
Never ask for starters,A sense of Fair play and level headedness, and bucketloads Acidic wit to get you out of any inflamed situation.

We (well i at least) salute you Mods
