No experience of the galaxy s, but love my desire.

 

Wait for the new HTC Desire Z.

 

The specs and Reviews on the Galaxy say it's better but I had nothing but problems with the last Samsung I had. I have the Desire and it's an excellent and reliable piece of kit.

It was released in May, wasn't it! I'm not saying don't get the latest and greatest, but the Desire is hardly old tech and it's extremely solid.

if you read the reviews and opinions on the tech sites, the HD and Z offer very little in advancement over the standard Desire, and given that the battery hasn't been improved on, usability is actually worse.

also, 90% of reviewers will make the Desire still the no1 android phone on the market, and will do for some time to come imh.

Just been reading reviews of all 3. There is no clear winner. The desire looks great apart from the battery life. The desire HD is too big, so I think I will count that out.

I guess it depends on how hard it is canned in a day. I am not on it all the time. I have pc & laptop for browsing.

 

Battery life is fine, it's when apps auto sync that it drains very fast. I only sync manually and switch to 'airplane' mode at night and it will last 24 hours easy.

Bear in mind, too, that spare batteries for the desire are only about £30 (last time I looked), so if you do nights away from power then you could always grab one.

It's not been an issue for me and mine is certainly no worse than my friends with iphones et al

i have got the desire and it is great.

I have used my sisters galaxy s and I did not really like it, much prefer my desire.

 

It looks like the Desire has a lot of fans.

I think it could be the way to go. Hopefully Orange will have stock soon.

 

The only pain in the arse thing with the Desire is that you fill the memory rather quickly.

My mother has one. I bought her a 16GB Micro SD card for it. However, until your network releases the software update you can't move apps to the SD card...

Last time I backed up my iPhone, I had 107 apps. I've got 700 pictures, 20 albums, half a dozen tv shows and a couple of films. But my iPhone has never locked up because I've used all the available memory...

 

I am hoping Orange will get a desire in stock in the next couple of days.

I might need a back up plan.

Maybe Desire HD, although it is a bit big, or Mozart 7 Windows phone, or the Galaxy S.

It looks quite cool. I don't think it will be released in time to the UK market.

Although iPhone4 is king... have you thought about getting a second hand 3GS?

 

At £200-£300 for a used iphone 3 I may as well have a new phone with guarantee.

 

Yep, the really mint ones hold their value. They can range from £125 through to £400. Great bit of hardware.

 

I just looked on the orange site, I can get a new iphone 3 on a 24month contract for £35 without haggling for discount.

I would say yes but I'm sure there's a queue of people that would argue the toss. I would say the iPhones are brilliant and the downsides to consider are paying for apps, being forced to use iTunes and 24 month contracts.

 

just remember the HTC's run almost everything through Google mail so you'll need to set up an account for everything . . . can be a pain

 

On flipside I use google mail on an iPhone and iPod Touch and it's such a benefit that you wouldn't not want to. Having Google Calender sync between my different hardware is a real big plus.

 

I have been to a phone shop this morning & the physical size between the Galaxy s & the Desire HD is very little.

I am tempted to go HD, & always have a charger near by. The standard Desire is very hard to come by. That must show how good it really is.

Maybe the Desire HD could be the answer.
