If someone just handed you £1000 , what would you spend it on ? :)

(I think we had one of these threads ages ago but i couldnt find it)

I think at the moment it would be mainly boring stuff, i really need a new freezer, a new cooker wouldnt go amiss either, and about £400 worth of needed m.o.t work to the bug would be good too as its a bit broken at the moment. :)

I'd give a chunk of it to my sister so she can fly home from America to get space away from her abusive husband and sort herself out ( ) and the rest I'd clear a couple of bills with :)
I'd buy my little sister a decent 18th Birthday Present, My Mum & Dad a decent 50th Present and the missus a really nice weekend away. :)
either a respray for the bug or towards some sort of flying lessons maybe in a paramotor
the heamatology ward at university hospitals coventry & warwick ;)
good ratio so far 50% of the replys on this thread wpuld use the money for someone else
thats easy, an 07 13 meter warro and a slab of magners
I'd buy a mint og 23 window Samba.

Well the chance of anyone handing me a bag of sand has the same odds as finding one for that! :D

But if I won it on the Lotto I'd either spend it on school fees or if I'm allowed to spend it on something nice I'd take my son (and the missus) to Lapland (or Scotland it might be cheaper) to see Santa and his Reindeer. :)
i'd put it into a savings acount for my new niece!! :D
A teardrop trailer or a respray for my beetle :D
cliche but treat my family to a slap up, some for a treat for my kids, some for neurofibromotosis, some into my vdub, and some for a rainy day :)
is spend it on my kids bedrooms and new furniture for them :)
a cage for the wizard and the race suit I need etc
Its my son's 21st today and I have no money... :(
So some would go on him.

I could really use a £1000 now, it would dig me out of a hole.

It would go on things I need rather than want :(

Wife's car failed its MOT yesterday on a few bits. That's going to be a good few hundred. Then my car is due for MOT too and that needs tyres @ £90 each.

Plus we've just got a new washing machine. The TV is on its last legs. The PS2 has packed up. Had to buy £300 of medical instruments too. And need at least £200 of new books.

Your private life doesnt count.

Nearly everyone I know is inthe same boat at the moment, is there some disappearing money thing going on we dont know about?

Especially round here you just need more and more to survive.

Sure, as you know, I'm not in the gutter by any stretch of the imagination. But however much we seem to earn (borrow or steal :D ) it all just goes on living costs. The idea of being able to go on holiday or buy resprays or bits for cars (which aren't daily hacks) or even clothes is laughable.

The cost of living has gone out of wack with wages. My dad wrote an article about this a while back. He went back over a number of indexes and indicators for the last forty plus years and worked it all out. When he started out with a basic executive level civil service pay he had enough money to buy a new car, get a mortgage on a house in London and save money.
