Hi folks!

I'm new to VWs and new to electrics so please bear with me!

I have a '72 bay (crossover) and I have a problem with the indicators...

The left indicator stops working when braking. The indicator lights on the dash stays on until I take my foot of the brake and then the lights flash normally, as does the indicator itself.

From what i've read on here I'm thinking earth problem? Can somebody confirm this and point me towards the correct order of things to check/try out please?

Thanks in advance. :D

Justin is right. There is an earth lead in the Bay engine "bay"
from each bulb housing to the chassis sheet metal. Look for
a Brw wire. Often the spade ends get corroded in there.

Thanks for your help guys!

I had a peek in and the brown wire attached to the chassis looks ok at the spade end but it does look old and crusty in general. Where would I get a replacement?

Sorry if these questions are really dumb!

Also, I have no reverse lights ie. no bulbs or wiring at all. Are these simple to install?

First, see if there is a Reverse switch on the gbox nosecone.
If not, you would need to install. Should be a blank plug.

Wiring is simple after you fit bulbs:
