So, it's renewal time for the insurance on my golf...

Phoned up, ran through the quote, updated a few minor mods etc and got the price of £381

I then noticed my occupation has changed from what they still have on the system, so I ask them to update it. She runs the quote back through just to make sure it doesn't affect the premium....

Doesn't affect the premium my friggin arse! It went up by £100!

So if you're a graphic designer....you're probably being ripped off by your insurance bastard company

not sure what to do now though  I'm fucked if I'm paying an extra £100 because of a couple of words on a peice of paper that have no effect on the way I drive my car  the bastards

Hmm I know the feeling....

I'm a geologist who works in civil engineering in close proximity to trains and large machinery. I'm often to be found dangling off a rope up to 100ft in the air as well. Having a group 17 car doesn't help either!

Maybe I need a more tame job?!

Indeed, RH are superb but for some reason don't seem so well known. Have just insured my split and bay on the same policy with vastly better benefits than the previous company, all for about £20 less than I was paying for the bay alone before. Excellent!

Think they known their stuff too, as part of the policy I HAVE to have a fire extinguisher in the bay at all times!

As a one of those media types, apparently, I was told that "it is possible that you could be giving Tom Cruise a lift".

Even though I've never met him...

I bet he really wants to get in a T4 panel van...

Well I phoned them back this afternoon and basically explained that it's my (our) company, so my job description is whatever I want. So I told him I'm not a graphic designer, but I am in fact the managing director.

It brought it back down a touch, but not all that much, and in fact it's still more that my original renewal quote even though I had an extra years no claims bonus that they 'forgot' about...

nevermind...that'll teach me to be self employed

22 thankyou very much :p

Nothing I can do to get my insurance under £900 till I'm 25. Next summer I will have 3 years no claims though, so I'm getting there :)
