Someone says something like 'i do have one bad quality'...

and then they go on to describe a fucking GOOD quality!

'I do have one bad quality, I'm a real perfectionist and have to get the job done properly'

Tossers.

/Rant over!

That is quite annoying  O well never mind thats some people for you :D
'Well, my one bad quality is that I can't rest until the job is done..'

No.. Your one bad quality is that you can't fucking differentiate between good and bad qualities you twat
It's what idiot HR 'Experts' tell them they are supposed to do.

that, and become a bland charecterless Automaton for 45 minutes.

Never hired anyone who interviewed 'properly' and fully intend not to in the future.

then again, never done featureless Multinationals that employ HR 'experts' either.
It's worse being the interviewee. Being too tense to even show that you have a personality and feeling that anything you say will be taken down and used against you in a court of employers.

I'm crap at them. I think about it too much and fuck it up almost every time. It's one of the only times in life that I get that nervous. It almost always feels like I'm being interviewed by the cast of X-Factor.

Saying that though, I had an interview last week where the interviewer was really friendly and casual and made me feel completely at ease and in a position where I could be completely honest (such as saying that one of me previous jobs was shit so I left). He offered me the job at the end of the interview and all being well, I start in a few weeks. :D

So my moral of this story is that the interviewer should (not saying you guys don't) work to get the personality and honesty out of the interviewee. :hangloose

Oh, and what would be a good answer to what are you bad at? "Well I'm really fucking lazy, yeah, I spend all day just browsing the internet and could out-draw Clint Eastwood in an alt+tab competition". :D

Questions like "what are your best/worst qualities?" are, IMO a complete waste of time. They don't prove anything, and just give the interviewer the chance to play psychologist, which most clearly aren't.

"What is your worst quality?" - Well, I'm a real perfectionist and want everything to be just right. "Well, sometimes you don't get the time to get everything perfect every time. Have you ever had any issues with your perfectionism in the past?" Yes, I get totally stressed out if I'm not given loads of time to do things, and I can't just let things go. You ask my last employer who had to "let me go".

So, I don't think the initial question is too bad - as long as it's followed up by something with which you can test the impact.

Am I making sense?
I usually just say i dont have any bad qualities..

and then fart and say "Phwoar that's a good'un aint it" !!! :D
I'm just reading through CV's and they all say it! It just pissed me off this morn.. I don't ask that question in interviews :) I just shut up and let people talk.
People are trying to list their bad quailities on their CV?!
Yeah, or good qualities in a cunning disguise.
Could be worse - you could be looking at 500 application forms where 496 of them under the catergory "Hobbies" say, "I enjoy walking and reading". That really annoyed me when I worked in Admin for a University.

Whenever anyone asks me what my bad qualities, I am always seriously tempted to say "I like to hide in the bushes next to the car park and masturbate during my lunch break"
People that ask me questions like that in interviews aren't people that I want to work for. Simple as that. The more they mess me about and nitpick and psycho-analyse and test me, the more likely I am to wonder what other useless control-freakery they'd get up to if I got the job.

Hence, I'm not working right now
I have many bad qualities, but I'm not stupid enough to tell a future employer them!.

Usual answer, I don't suffer fools gladly ;)
I know what you mean. I had an interview at the Police for a Web Designer and the application form asked "is there any reason why you shouldn't be subjected to pepper spray?"... I didn't get that job.

Boring interviewees are a problem too. I had one where the guys was so boring that I was looking him in the face, quite seriously and occasionally agreeing, but the whole time wondering how hard it'd be to weld his glasses to his face.
