My blue one has the same wheels etc as your red one, but with white interior. Ihad always assumed was a kit as had a screw (from memory as stored away years lol)
Ah sorry I misunderstood - yes that would be a post 72 in original blue paint. I think they changed or released lots of castings with screwed in bases in the 70s so they could be sold as kits, MK1 Escort and MK1/2 Transits etc. Makes life much easier for me when they need fixing!

Yeah that was the worst part of any I restored, having to split the base when they were riveted

One of my kids making his confirmation and asked me for a model bug to remember it. I found this 1:18 scale 67 that's radio controlled, on amazon for £21. Just arrived and i'm well chuffed, i'm sure he'll be bouncing

Looks like a burago going by wheels etc, were they linked?
This is the only link I can find between Mebetoys and Bburago

the Mebetoys company was founded by Ugo and Martino Besana in 1959.[1] Mario Besana joined the company in 1967, one year after the company started producing cars. After selling the brand to Mattel, the Besana brothers set up Martoys. This firm made car models in 1/24-scale for only two years, from 1974 to 1976. Then, possibly because of confusion with Louis Marx and Company, the name was changed to Bburago, with two 'Bs' (the first B stood for the creator's name, Besana, while the remainder was for the town of Burago di Molgora where the models were made).
So no, at the time Mebetoys were owned by Mattel and nothing to do with Bburago. Some really nice stuff came out of the takeover, such as large scale Hot Wheels. They're seriously nice but priced accordingly!

A Matchbox Beach Buggy and a Baja Buggy. Does the pink one have both headlights? They're often broken off
