Had rather a bumper haul at the boot sales today. Starting off with a Majorette beach buggy I've been after for some time

Another tidy Majorette - I bought a handful off the same seller

This was the most pleasing find though, Tomy AFX MK2 Golf slot car - I bought the set it's from at the same boot sale ages ago and the Golf was missing!

Class! Was going to try and get the yellow one for my youngest for Christmas but it only came in a set with the splitter bus. He really likes yellow bugs!!

Somehow this one has lost its tailgate too, but I have 4 or 5 rough ones in my projects box so I'll have one somewhere.

It's still better than this one which I rusted up and lowered

The one I really want to find is an early release with metal tailgate, one was on eBay recently but got a bit expensive!
One day I might finish my rough as a badger's arse roof chopped one too

Good taste, yellow Beetles are clearly superior ;)

Like I said, yellow Beetles are clearly superior. This is the new Hot Wheels baja casting, it came out a while back as a premium car and Mattel have made a number of changes now it's in the mainline, including a different base that pushes the wheels forwards. This looked a bit odd to me so I altered it and then gave it a fresh paint job, some graphics and detailing.

And done. I'm sure lots of us remember the slammed Japanese baja that caused a bit of a sensation when pics of it hit the net

Don't know why but I found myself thinking about doing a replica of it. Maisto casting was used as it's a bugeye with a sunroof as per the original.

I had a tatty one in the custom box, so I made a new base to get it nice and low, chopped out the quarter lights, removed the running boards and gave it a lick of Vauxhall diamond black along with a paper clip nerf bar

Toy fair and boot sale today, both very sparse. Check out this Dinky Beetle that was 33.3p, some kid must have come home after watching some grass track racing and chopped up his toy car

One more arrival - Marx Beetle. They did two versions, one with a metal base, interior and driver, and a budget version with just the body/axles and a card base printed with interior and chassis detail. Finding them with the cards intact is a challenge but I think I have them all now, there weren't many in the range.
As you'll see, they didn't know what a Beetle looked like underneath!

A hat trick of VW stuff to show you. First up, this Siku beach buggy. I was hoping to find one in The Entertainer but had to get it online. Bigger stores might have one though

Next up is this Hot Wheels Beetle, I had a vague idea about sorting out the weird sticky-out wheels on one, this is what I came up with

I thought the standard headlights were also a bit rubbish, just post sticking up off the base, so I removed them and fitted rhinestones.
