Location: London... on eBay... don't you wish it was more specific

If you live within the M25 area you'll know what I mean.

Just looking for a new (used) computer and I want to be able to collect in person.

But 'London' as a location is so meaningless, I wish all people would add where in London into the details of the auction (as some already do).

I live about 400 yards from the London border and 'London' could mean five minutes away or three hours away... it's a BIG fooking place :lol:

I can be in Brighton quicker than I can North London.

I know exactly what you mean, North London is easily acccesible for me from here. Darn Sarf where you live, it is so south, hell it may as well be France.

A city as vast as London, you need to be very specific.

I hate the ones who dont give any proper location so it just says "u.nited kingdom"

Doesn't it have an "x miles from postcode" option? I would have thought that'd help - can't remember what the options are though - might not come close enough to differentiate between London and London.

yeah exactly...

not so much in relation to London but when I see a car for sale way up North I know I can get to france if not Germany in the time it would take to drive there

yeah I use that but it's not much help round here either... again similar with autotrader website

15 miles from here into parts of London could take me three or four hours

but 15 miles South is just a quick drive into the conutry

It takes me as long to get to some of the north london sites i have to visit as it does to get to bristol / cardiff :crazy:

i worked out my average speed in the work van and it is so dependant on whether its split inside and outside of the M25

inside i got 4 mph which is about walking speed

only got 53mph outside but i put that down to the ques round the M25

eBay itself doesn't help... it sets the location (I seem to remember) or at least I know it did when I made my account

but if I do an ad. on here or a car ad. on eBay I put near J8 M25 in the title

my last used computer was from a guy off eBay who was within walking distance and I was happy to pay slightly over the odds just to be able to go half a mile and pay cash... he was happy too... we had done the deal within minutes of the auction ending

I used to live in W1 and oddly enough that was a lot quicker if you were just staying within Central London... it was once you hit Elephant & Castle etc it went pear shaped

Yeah couldn't agree more

as soon as your north of the river it aint to bad

The worse thing for me is trying to get anywhere outside i have to leave pre 6:30 am just to get from croydon out onto the M25 in 10 mins rather than an hour

grrrrrrrrrrrr my 4 to 8 hrs a day in me work van is really waring me down i must admit

Aye, hadn't really thought of that.
Just about anywhere around here is easy to tell. An hour is Liverpool or Leeds sort of distance, less than that is closer. Easy enough.
