Not a large amount of visual progress. My mate is prepping the shell as he owes me a favour and I hate sanding. After bare-metalling it, it looks like it's been run over at some time with some dents in the roof.

Currently 2 debates:

Get the dents out of the roof vs fit the paris ragtop a mate gave me years ago

The satin black idea is kind of going out of the window and thinking more of ruby red similar to this one I did a few years ago

Whilst he's been prepping I've been sorting the chassis parts and doing a load of welding on the wife's mini

Personally, I’d repair the roof. I have a real dislike of aftermarket rag tops. Up to you though, it’s your car not mine. :)

What sort of paint do you use? DIY in the garage friendly?
No, 2k. But I don't do much painting in the garage at home anymore since having kids as it's attached to the house. I'm lucky, I rent some space in a mate's unit who's a restorer/painter so it gets done down there (usually by him, I tend to stick to chassis and components). Aiming to be able to paint a body to a decent standard myself in the future.

Ah ok, i have some repairs to touch in on my mk2 Golf project, maybe I could try rattle cans then cut and polish.
Blow-ins you should be fine with some proper paint and a decent mask and good ventilation. Local paintshop should be able to advise. If no rush leave it till the weather warms up a bit or some heaters in the garage to get the temperature up.

Whilst my mate continues (very slowly) to prep the outside, I've been cleaning up and stonechipping the underneath. Will be painted body colour eventually

Decided to sort the bonnet. 8 layers of paint! Lost the will to live after and hour with the d/a and wire brush. Going to have to do this bit by bit to retain some sanity

Decided to have a go painting the polo myself. No runs which i'm pretty happy about considering I've not done any proper paint for 15 years or so only chassis and small bits.

As my mate's fitting in the bug prep around other stuff I've been making use of the dry weather and been doing more on the T25.

Inside the b post was 'interesting'. Surprisingly the inside was rust free.

Cut the long side panel off. Will need to do the rear suspension mount area and the panel in front of the rear arch first as this wraps first with the long panel over the top. Inner sill rust free too which was a bonus.
