Is anyone using this on their type 1 engine?

I gather it's based on ford parts, if you are using it, which car did you get it off.

I'm building a turbo engine and liked the idea of using mappable ignition rather than limit the advance of my 009 and lose the bottom end drivability.

Yes I'm running it on my buggy. All the info you could possibly want including where to source parts from is on the autosport labs web page.

Another good one is triggerwheels.com which is a uk based site that sells all the required parts if you dont want to get em from the scrappers.

I'm using a mondeo coil pack and crankshaft sensor and the edis unit is from an escort.

My father in law has a old 1.6 injection orion (1993) going rusty but running.

Could i use it off that? is the same as the mondeo stuff? The autosport seems to make ref to american escorts which I think were different?

If its an edis 4 unit then you can use it no probs. Coil pack, crankshaft sensors can all be used no probs.

It was a lot more eager to start, it's not too hard to get it set up, the worst bit is probably getting the trigger wheel and sensor mounted, but it's been done many times before so there are plenty of alternative ideas, just make sure your wheel spins true, and the sensor is with in about 1mm and you'll be fine, i added some adjusting slots to my trigger wheel as there was no adjustment for angle built in to the software, that allowed me to mount the wheel then fine tune the angle.

if you use the edis ecs unit (mk4 and 5 escorts with carbs) you can run stand alone as they have an advanced curve built into the edis unit rather than using the pip and saw wires as on the later ones and runnning efi

Wouldn't that negate the point of having mapable ignition? you'd gain a strong spark, but if the advance curve dosen't suit your engines characteristics there'd be little benifit.

Hi sorry i completely forgot, not sure if this'll work but i've taken a copy of my table, it comes out as a "vex" file, what ever that is!
you should be able to copy it, then click on import table and load it to your megajolt software, at least thats how it works with megatune.

here we go...

... hmm cant seem to add files here, if you pm me with an email address i'll send it that way.:)

First of all, i want to say hello. My name is Pete and I'm located just north of Philadelphia, PA, in the states.

Anyway, i'm going with megajolt and EDIS on my setup. It's a type 4engine, which inturn, will go in my 57. Here are a few pictures of my setup...this where i mounted my vr sensor...

Here's a picture of the engine with throttle bodies (getting ready for megasquirt). I will be using Dell's to start off with.

Lastly, great forums, I'll be visiting more often :D
