Mobile broardband con

This may have been covered before but...

I was looking at a mobile broardband package in PC world and was looking at the voda fone 3 package.

A 24 month contract is £15 per month but when I asked about the FREE laptop that was advertised I was told that that would cost me and EXTRA £20 per month (contract £35 per month)???? For some reason the shop assistant could understand that I wasn’t actually getting a free laptop, but rather the £399 laptop I was getting would actually cost me £480? After a heated debate with the assistant I still couldn't get a FREE laptop as advertised.

How does paying £80 over the odds for a laptop = getting a FREE laptop?

What idiots would fall for this?

Are trading standards aware?

Can anyone think of anything else that is supposed to be free that actually cost more then the list price?

£20/month unlimited calls text no upgrade

I think the way they get around this is by upping your allowed usage from 3 gig to 5 so they say tha's what the extra money is for.

I had the same argument in PC World when trying to buy a Netbook, they kept on trying to get me to buy mobile broadband for it. They kept on pointing out that I'd get a free laptop as well as the Netbook I was buying and they just refused to see how the laptop wasn't free. The laptop they were offering was a crap anyway.

The usage on both packages was identical:confused:

No sorry I was kidding, got bored with arguing before it went that far;)

Would have been fun though:D
Just looking at the voda fone broadband on that site and the laptops are not listed as FREE it just says 'with laptop'. Hmmm maybe this false advertising has been addressed.
Your first mistake was going to PC World in the first place :D :D

could you not get on here ?
Another con with mobile broadband is the payasyougo service.

You buy the dongle for £49.99 and a 1 Gb allowence for £10. During the next month you use some of it and then they take the rest away and you have to buy more 30 days later.

How can it be fair if you buy something only for the company to take it back because you haven't used it !!

"Good Morning Sir, its Tesco's here I've come to collect the food you haven't eaten this month" !!!

Hence I can live without mobile broadband.
Not sure why you had to sign up for a 24 month plan for £15, it's only 18 months on the website.

I can't say never, but I hope not to have to use PC world or any associated companies again!

Lets face it, these days if you can't find a legitimate open wireless connection, you aren't trying.
Isn't there some way of hacking into someone elses broadband? :incheek:
