Taphill Studios Presents

Motormate
An iPhone app for the stranded motorist

Motormate is a new app by Taphill Studios that features a simple and intuitive way to fault find car trouble. With the weather now turning so cold many people are experiencing problems starting their engines each morning. With the breakdown services stretched sometimes it is just more quick and convenient to find and resolve the issue yourself.

Motormate allows you to select the symptoms which best fit your problem. Match your starting fault with the relevant sound in the app. Perhaps you have a flat or drained battery, a faulty starter motor or you need to clear damp out of the electrics.

Once you locate the issue, Motormate provides easy to follow guidance on getting you moving again. There are clear step-by-step instructions on jump starting, push starting and even refitting a wheel. Guides are also included if you would like to learn more about various components or how the starting system works.

If the worst come to the worst and you do need to call the breakdown service, Motormate features a handy address and coordinate finding tool to save you having to leave the app to search elsewhere.

Motormate was conceived by Taphill Studios co-founder Dominic Shooter. "I was tired of having to dig out a book just to find a simple starting fault," says Dominic. "We developed the app because we could see the need for car users to have information right at hand. In the age of the smartphone it makes sense to use technology in this way."

Taphill Studios prides itself on well designed and well engineered apps and Motormate is no exception. The app features hand drawn diagrams and smooth animation, with an easy to use and intuitive user interface.

Motormate retails at £1.19 in the App Store and is on sale now. For less than the cost of a city bus ticket you may save yourself a lot of money later on.

nice (advert)

how easy are iphone apps to write?

mind you i've not followed the herd and got one of the infernal things.
(shameless advertising)

I'd pay for advertising but I've been working on this for a year unpaid

It's sodding difficult, you need to know Objective C and to be honest it's been a real learning curve coming at it as a Flash developer - If your thinking of writing an app for iphone you really need to be a true programmer you also need to put up $99 for the privilege of earning Apple money.

coming from VB wont help me at all then, and apple can shove there $99 :)
Well its an object orientated language so it may help you, but what won't help is you can only develop on a Mac which means your £599 down from the start
