some of you know or may remember Douglas

he is a 9 month old great dane....
we took him to the vets a little while ago cos he started limping on one of his front legs, the vet said there was nothing to worry about & gave him some anti-inflammatories, we wernt so sure & asked for an X-Ray, the vet refused !

once he had finnished his medication he was still limping, so we went back to the vets & demanded an X-ray.....guess what.....................

he has got a bone disease called OCD ( osteochondritis dissecans )
he immediately got refered to a specialist who has called him in for an operation on the 1st Feb :(
they are gonna try to remove some cartilage from around his shoulder, then take a look at the other leg

im just a bit pissed off about this because apparently, if the condition is caught early (ie when we first took him) then is can be sorted with medication alone

now as it stands, we gotta find £1500 for his op,i know its not about the money, but i just feel that it could have been sorted first time around ..

anyway, i just hope they can fix him so he can run around the park again like any other puppy :)

Dave sends his pint over, things usually feel alot better once he's had a pint or two!!

Dave had a few operations when he was a puppy, vets bills of £3,500 so far....thankfully he is insured with Pet Plan. Good luck with your beautiful puppy xx
