It sounds like your engine is really well installed with all of the correct seals, tinware etc.

As you go up in road speed and therefore the fan speed increases it could be that it’s reached it’s maximum efficiency with the available airflow, especially with the twin Weber’s sucking air as well.
It would be simple to rule this out.
Although you friends have similar set ups, it could be that your engine bay is better sealed than theirs and provides less in flow of ambient air.
Another question would be whether you have the correct fan fitted - you can fit (incorrectly) the smaller fan in the later fan shroud which would leave a gap.
